Spanish Teacher
Position Status: Part-Time
Responsibilities:
- Teach a small, in-person Upper School class working with students with learning differences
- Manage foreign language club for Middle School students
- Align instruction with the mission of Oakland School
- Deliver Spanish instruction, utilizing the curriculum and themes adopted by Oakland School, correlated with other appropriate learning activities
- Use evidence-based practices that promote student success across the curriculum
- Demonstrate a flexible and reflective approach to teaching
- Collaborate with colleagues to improve instructional practices throughout the school; share best practices
- Use formative and summative assessments and document student progress and achievement
- Communicate effectively with school administrators, classroom teachers, families, and students through face-to-face dialogue, written messages, and written reports to track and communicate progress
- Involve parents and guardians as partners in their students’ education
Qualifications:
- Virginia Teaching License
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field from a fully accredited college or university required
- Experience with various educational technologies and knowledge of sound teaching strategies with the ability to support students in technology use required
- Experience teaching high school Spanish
- Experience working with students who have learning differences is preferred
- Possess knowledge of evidence-based practices that promote students’ success across the curriculum
- Demonstrate understanding, appreciation, and empathy for students who learn differently
- Demonstrate ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Must possess excellent collaboration, and written and verbal communication skills
- Competency with computers and software, including but not limited to mainstream products from Microsoft and Google required
