Event Description
Shop, slurp, and stroll through Downtown Westminster! This annual festival features local oyster farmers, live entertainment, delicious food and a lot of fun for the whole family! This event is designed to raise awareness about Chesapeake Bay farm-raised oysters and highlights how Westminster is working to restore wild oysters back into the Bay by working with environmental partners to create new oyster reefs from recycled oyster shells and concrete reef balls. All proceeds benefit the Coastal Conservation Association and Chesapeake Bay Foundation.
Volunteer Details
The City of Westminster Recreation and Parks Department is seeking volunteers on Saturday, October 12, 2024, from 10:30 AM – 4:30 PM, for our annual Oyster Stroll along Main Street. Please plan to attend the whole duration of these hours.
Volunteer opportunities include:
14+
Gate Operations (Volunteers will be stationed at entrance gates to assist with gate operations)
Activities Monitor (Supervise crafts and games stations and assist families and kids)
18+
Perimeter Control (Volunteers will be stationed at festival entrances/ exits to ensure guests do not leave the festival area with an open container of alcohol),
ID Check (Check IDs for wrist banding)
21+
Beverage distributors (Volunteers will be stationed at various points throughout the footprint pouring alcoholic beverages for guests)
Where do volunteers report?
Please report to the volunteer check-in tent located at the rear of locust lane. All volunteers must check-in and check-out to be credited volunteer hours for the volunteer incentive program. Parking can be found in the Longwell Garage and the Longwell Surface Parking lot.
**All volunteers under the age of 14 years old must be accompanied by a supervising adult. One adult can supervise a group of students under the required age.
