Primary Role
This external affairs internship experience will introduce you to the exciting career opportunities in the water and wastewater field at Pennsylvania American Water.
The successful candidate will: Learn firsthand how water utilities support communities and provide resiliency and sustainability, work with a team of professionals to assist with external affairs and community relations activities, and support the government affairs, business development and policy objectives of the department.
Key Accountabilities
- Provide support to external affairs, government affairs and business development staff.
- Assist in organizing, preparing and executing community relations events, outreach to key external stakeholders, and special events and projects.
- Assist with data entry, collection and analysis in support of growth opportunities, policy objectives and corporate communications.
- Researches and prepares information and reports in preparation for internal and external meetings, events and presentations.

- Good working knowledge of computer programs, databases, and software to support specific assignments.
Experience/Education
- Enrollment in a Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Public Administration, Business Administration and/or Political Science undergrad degree program or relevant program from an accredited school.
- Minimum of 2 years of completed coursework.
Other Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License and ability to pass motor vehicle background check.
- Must be able to pass pre-employment background check.
Notes
- Some travel expected (Approx. 25% evenings/weekends).
- Option for 3-2 hybrid work model to align with manager’s schedule.
