Excel Orthopaedics is looking for an in office Medical Scribe who will be responsible for accurate and detailed clinical documentation, working closely with our Orthopedic doctors.
This position is part time, usually Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursday between the hours of 8am-6pm. This position is located in Massachusetts only and is in office. Unfortunately this is not an internship or a summer only job. It is geared more towards Massachusetts residents near the Woburn area who are taking a gap year or have graduated.
The last 2 people who held this position got into Medical school on their first try! This could be your stepping stone!
What you will be doing:
- Scribe will review clinical schedules and prep documentation for the provider
- Accompany provider into the exam room and transcribe/ document into eCW (EMR) while the provider is completing their exam and recommendations, completes clinic notes, labs and orders for the provider to review and sign
- The Scribe does not provide direct patient care, diagnose or order independently
- Reviews and identifies pertinent info in the chart at the provider’s direction
- Follows HIPAA and documentation compliance standards
- Monitors patient schedule and workques throughout the day to ensure provider is prepped for clinical needs.
- Demonstrates attention to detail
- Completes other tasks as directed by management.
- Attends staff meetings and continuing education
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in healthcare (or degree in progress) required
- Anatomy & Physiology, medical terminology, orthopedics coursework or experience preferred
- Ability to handle high volume of patients and multitask in fast paced environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong computer skills including EMR and MS Office
- Able to work collaboratively with multiple health professionals in a busy and complex environment using tact, diplomacy, and discipline.
- Ability to work with and maintain confidentiality of patient, patient account, and personal data
- Commitment to excellence, high standards, and continuously improving the quality of care provided to patients
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills
- Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm
