Teach for Christ is looking for college graduates with a heart for mission, high academic achievement and strong self motivation. Teach for Christ apprentice teachers serve on teams in Catholic K-12 schools as academic coaches, teachers, assistant teachers, tutors, marketers and more. Those accepted into the program receive an intense 6-week summer training to prepare them for service in a school and for the rigors of mission life.
Teach for Christ apprentice teachers gain experience in professional communication, organization, project management and leadership….. skills every employer is looking for. If you are thinking about a teaching career in Catholic schools but you don’t have an education degree, Teach for Christ is a great way to step into the field to gain experience. Over half of our alumni receive a job offer from the school they serve!
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be ages 21-28
- Bachelor’s degree (education majors and non-education majors)
- Must have experience working with youth
- Must be single (no dependents, no spouse)
- Must be Catholic
- Must pass a criminal background check
FINANCIAL ARRANGEMENTS: Missionaries receive a minimum $2,750 annual stipend. Housing, groceries and transportation provided throughout summer training and school year.
LIVING ARRANGEMENTS: Missionaries live in intentional faith community with other Teach for Christ missionary educators. Men’s and women’s houses attend daily Mass, share common meals, prayer and social activities.
TRAINING: Six weeks of training beginning in early July through mid August. Summer training focuses on building the necessary skills for effective project and classroom management. Training includes a week long COR backpacking expedition in the mountains of Wyoming.
