Job Summary

Assists the Manager – Civil/Criminal Judicial Support/Judicial Assistant, in the development of short and long-range goals affecting the Civil/Criminal Division of the Circuit Court. Implements and/or assists the Manager in the implementation of policies and procedures established by the Chief Judge and the Court Administrator. Supervises the daily operations of the Case Management, Jury, Criminal Case Support, and Clerk Support Offices. Prepares, presents and reviews reports and other documents related to the management of the Civil/Criminal Division of the Circuit Court. Works with judges, attorneys, Circuit and District Court staff, the Sheriff’s Department, Clerk/Register of Deeds, Prosecutor, and others to expedite the processing of civil and criminal cases. Oversees assignment of case evaluation and case scheduling in accordance with established policies, court rules, administrative orders, and other directives. Utilizes current Countywide and/or department specific software to complete assignments.

Minimum Qualifications

At time of application, applicant must:

1. a. Possess a Master’s degree or Juris Doctorate from an accredited college or university with a preferred major in Business Administration, Public Administration, Court Administration, or a closely related field; AND

b. Have had at least two (2) years of full-time work experience in a court legal system, or a similar business environment, which includes at least two (2) years in a supervisory capacity; OR

2. a. Possess a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a preferred major in Business Administration, Public Administration, Court Administration, or a closely related field; AND

b. Have at least had four (4) years of full-time work experience in a court legal system, or a similar business environment, which includes at least two (2) years in a supervisory capacity; OR

3. a. Possess an Associate’s degree or sixty (60) credit hours from an accredited college or university with a preferred major in Business Administration, Public Administration, Court Administration, or a closely related field; AND

b. Have at least had at least six (6) years of full-time work experience in a court legal system, or a similar business environment, which includes at least two (2) years in a supervisory capacity.

4. Pass the complete examination, including the employment medical, established for this classification.

5. Successfully complete the six-month probationary period.
