The City of Newark, Delaware, a professionally managed, growing university community, seeks those interested in the position of police officer. Applicants must be at least 21 years of age, possess an Associate’s degree or its equivalent (minimum 60 credits) from a recognized college or university OR 30 credits with military service (defined as serving 2+ years of a commitment with the commitment being defined as either 3+ years of active duty or 6+ years of guard or reserve service; honorable discharge and/or enlistment documentation required), have a valid driver’s license with no recent suspension, have no felony convictions, meet pre-employment assessment requirements and be a U.S. citizen.

Starting salary is $56,706 ($45,801 while attending the police academy) with possibility for rapid advancement. Applicants will undergo an extensive screening process which includes a written test and COPT physical exam, oral interview, health and exercise assessment, background investigation (minimum education credits must be completed by the start of the background investigation), polygraph test, physical examination and psychological evaluation.
