Licensed Special Education Teachers and Intervention Specialists are needed to serve as Mercy Volunteers at St. Michaels Association for Special Education (SMASE) in the Navajo Nation. SMASE provides comprehensive day and residential services for Diné children and young adults with moderate to severe disabilities. Mercy Volunteers serve on a team of teachers, therapists, and aides to provide education to develop functional and daily living skills.
Mercy Volunteers promote social change through one or two years of compassionate service in the spirit of mutuality. Volunteers live together in an intentional community and commit to spiritual growth and a simple/sustainable lifestyle. All volunteers are provided with housing, transportation, monthly stipends, and more. Volunteers are supported by a site supervisor who ensures that our volunteer is gaining professional experience and is fully immersed in their service site.
