POSITION SUMMARY
College Interns assist the Department of Innovation and Performance in achieving departmental goals and objectives by working to complete assigned tasks and projects. Interns may be assigned to work with any of the dynamic teams within I&P based on the intern’s interests and abilities. I&P has a broad range of responsibilities across twelve distinct areas: IT Service Desk, CyberSecurity, Infrastructure/Network, IT Devices, Software Applications, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Innovation, 311 Response Line, Cable TV, Communications Services, Administration, and Data Services. Each year these teams employ interns to work on distinct, value-added projects that have a positive impact on our customers, such as:
Project Support Intern – assists an IT Project Manager to plan and manage a technology implementation project for City departments.
IT Service Desk Intern – solves reported issues with computers for internal customers.
Innovation Team Intern – manages community events such as the Inclusive Innovation Meetups.
Data Services – helps obtain and derive insight from data for internal and public audiences.
Admin Intern – assists the Admin team in receptionist duties, drafting and revising employee policies and procedures, invoice consolidation, and establishing a new invoice approval process.

Salary: $12.00 – $15.00 per hour
- WORK EXPERIENCE: None required for this position.
- EDUCATION/TRAINING: Must be currently enrolled and taking classes in an accredited college or university undergraduate or graduate program; OR have graduated within the last six (6) months.
POSITION DUTIES
- Contributes to departmental goals by completing assigned tasks and projects.
- Coordinates work in conjunction with project timelines; may liaise with city departmental contacts as well as the I&P Client Services Team.
- May be required to physically move equipment and supplies periodically weighing up to 40 pounds.
- May analyze statistical data, complete surveys, conduct research and develop reports.
- May assist in developing marketing materials and in developing and maintaining social media campaigns.
- May maintain supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies.
- May provide general administrative support to staff.
- May provide primary phone coverage (first to answer all incoming calls).
- Performs such other related tasks and duties that are assigned or required.
