PARK INTERPRETIVE SPECIALIST (SEASONAL) – CAPITAL DISTRICT/ OLD SACRAMENTO STATE HISTORIC PARK

The reporting location for this position will be Old Sacramento State Historic Park, California State Railroad Museum, 125 I Street, Sacramento, CA 95814. This position will work under the direction of the Guide II Supervisor.

This position will be responsible for planning, developing and conducting guided tours to support our public programming, docent volunteers and educational programs. Will assist in the evaluation and improvement process of each of these programs. Additionally, the Park Interpretive Specialist (Seasonal) will monitor and check-in school groups and provide accurate information to guests on special events, exhibits and other Museum programs. Will assist in preparing correspondences for interpretive programs; maintain interpretive evaluation files, training and records associated with interpretive work. Maintain daily admission fee sales when needed. Accurately account for daily revenues collected and compile daily attendance figures. Be proficient in the operation of a cash register. Be proficient in all Museum and State Park cash handling procedures and policies and be available to work, weekends, holidays, and special events.

This position may work up to 1,500 hours per year.

Priority consideration will be given to any person receiving State public assistance under the CalWORKS program. Applicants who receive State public assistance need to identify their status as a CalWORKS recipient in the comments area on the application. Applicants must submit a verification of their CalWORKS eligibility status, which may include the most recent Notice of Action showing TANF eligibility or a copy of your last aid check stub. If verification is not submitted with the application, the application will not be processed. (Applicants may obtain verification from the CalWORKS program).
