National Capital Area Council (NCAC), BSA delivers the promise of Scouting to youth in the Washington, D.C., metro area, including 16 counties in Maryland and Virginia, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and U.S. citizens abroad in North and South America. Our programs teach young people to “be prepared!” for adventure, education, service, and leadership. The council offers extensive training, and administrative support to units. It is rated as a “Class 100” council by the National Council (headquarters office), which denotes that the NCAC is among the very largest in the country.
IN THIS ROLE:
You will be working with the Marketing Director of the NCAC National Eagle Scout Association (NESA)
NESA DC (formerly the Gathering of Eagles) is the Eagle Scout alumni organization for National Capital Area Council, BSA. Our aims are simple: Encourage networking and friendship among Eagle Scouts. Assist the National Capital Area Council with Eagle-related activities. Gather and re-engage Eagles who have not recently been involved with Scouting. Leverage the skills, talents, & dedication of local Eagles to create lasting community service. Establish a foundation of continued financial support for Scouting.
• Enrolled in marketing, business or another relevant degree (preferred)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Enthusiastic and strong work ethic
• Strong verbal and communication skills
• Knowledge of all Microsoft Office programs
Schedule and Compensation
• Part-time or full-time internship available hours per week around intern’s schedule during the academic year
Duties & Responsibilities
Primary responsibility is to create marketing content that will spread brand awareness; this includes, but is not limited to social media posts, photos, flyers, videos, designs etc.
Oversee the email marketing to the council
Analyze market trends and brainstorm new and exciting ways to capture markets
– Assist Marketing Director with daily operations
– Weekly check-in phone calls and status updates
Create a social media marketing calendar.
Brainstorm, create content, and draft copy for posting across social platforms
Assist planning and marketing the monthly networking lunch series, “Taking Flight” where a notable Eagle comes and discusses their life. Past people include Congressmen, NASA Astronauts, Fortune 500 Company Leadership, and Cabinet Secretaries.
