Education: Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering, scientific, or technical field directly related to the task to performed.
Months/Years of Experience: Master’s Degree – Seven (7) years; Bachelor’s Degree – Nine (9) years.
Required Qualifications: DoD weapon system advanced test and evaluation experience in a minimum of one of the technical functional area such as: missile system flight test, aviation system flight test, natural and induced environmental effects, electromagnetic effects, modeling and simulation, hardware in the loop, advanced sensor technologies, directed energy and laser technologies, static propulsion performance, and component/subsystems. Demonstrated experience and expertise for determining test and evaluation instrumentation and data acquisition system requirements to meet test objectives. Experience preparing, reviewing, and / or making expert technical test and evaluation specific recommendations to program documentation such as test plans, test reports, and program risk assessments. Expert understanding of DoD/Army test range operations to include safety, environmental, and logistics considerations for test program execution. Ability to communicate effectively both in oral presentations and written documentation appropriate to varying audience levels.
Duties: Plans, conducts, and reports results of engineering assessments for test & evaluation of advanced weapon system research and development across the DoD acquisition life cycle. Reviews system requirements and program objectives to develop test and evaluation strategies and evaluate adequacy of program plans. Applies test and evaluation engineering expertise to conduct risk assessments and makes technical recommendations to mitigate impacts. Discusses progress and interim findings at technical review meetings to include frequent interaction with customers. Monitors and coordinates test and evaluation activities for assigned projects. Prepares technical documentation and reports based on expert judgement and engineering knowledge of weapon system research and development.
Desired Qualifications: Master’s Degree. Cumulative demonstrated experience of fifteen (15) years with two or more of the DoD weapon system advanced test and evaluation technical functional area identified in the required qualifications above. At least three (3) years of leadership at the Division/Branch/Office Chief level within DoD test and evaluation organization (or similar), leading application of technical test and evaluation for Missile, Aviation, or related technologies.
